4J Ranch offers fully guided Texas hog hunts on private land in Centerville, Texas, about two hours from both Dallas and Houston. Since 1999, our family has guided hunters through this country with a completely different approach to the traditional Texas hog hunt.

We don’t stick you in a blind and leave you waiting. We load up the Side-by-Sides and go find the hogs.

Your guide stays with you throughout the hunt, covering ground and putting you in position for safe shooting opportunities as you move through the ranch. The entire experience happens in one day, no Texas hunting license is required for feral hogs on our private land, and every shooter is guaranteed 3 hogs.

Bring your own rifle or rent from our armory. If you want to go bigger, machine-gun packages and the Barrett .50 BMG are available too.

Why Hog Hunting at 4J Is Different

Most Texas hog hunts revolve around one strategy: put hunters in blinds near feeders and wait for hogs to appear.

That’s not how we hunt.

At 4J Ranch, your guide takes you into the woods in a Side-by-Side and stays with you throughout the day. Instead of watching one patch of ground for hours, we’re mobile — covering the ranch, reading fresh sign and moving to where the hogs are.

3 Hogs Guaranteed Per Shooter

We don’t advertise “opportunities” and hope for the best. Every shooter is guaranteed 3 hogs.

Our river-bottom property holds a strong wild hog population, and the ability to cover ground from Side-by-Sides means we aren’t dependent on one feeder or one blind producing at exactly the right time.

One Day Is All You Need

There’s no two- or three-day minimum. Arrive in the morning, hunt for the day, take your hogs and head home.

That makes 4J an easy trip from Dallas, Houston and College Station and a much simpler option for groups who don’t want to coordinate several days of lodging and time away from work.

What to Expect on Your Texas Hog Hunt

Never hunted hogs before? That’s fine.

You don’t need prior hog-hunting experience to hunt at 4J. Your guide handles the difficult parts and stays with you throughout the experience.

1. Arrive at the Ranch

4J Ranch is located at 11774 Co Rd 113 in Centerville, Texas, close to I-45 between Dallas and Houston.

When you arrive, you’ll meet the guides, go over the day’s plan and get ready for the hunt.

2. Safety Briefing & Range Time

Before hunting, we cover firearm safety and make sure everyone is comfortable with their equipment.

You’ll have access to our private range with steel targets out to 150 yards. Bring your own rifle and we’ll help you get it dialed in, or use one of our rental firearms.

First-time shooter? No problem.

We’ll walk you through it.

3. Load Up the Side-by-Sides

Then the real hunt starts.

We head into the property in ATVs, UTVs and Side-by-Sides, moving through the woods and river-bottom country looking for fresh hog activity.

Your guide knows the ground, where the hogs tend to bed and travel, and how to position the vehicle and hunters when we find them.

4. Hunt Until You Fill Your Guarantee

When hogs are located, your guide gets you into a safe shooting position and calls the opportunity. Then we keep moving.

Our goal is simple: Get every shooter their 3 hogs.

If you want to keep hunting after that, additional hogs are available according to the current pricing on our Texas hog hunting packages.

5. Retrieval, Photos & Processing

Our guides help track and retrieve your hogs and stage them for photos.

Optional skinning and quartering is available so you can load your meat into coolers before leaving. Our advice: bring plenty of cooler space.

Depending on your package and current availability, firearms can include options such as the M16, AK-47, MP5 and Barrett .50 BMG.

Our Texas Hog Hunting Ranch

4J Ranch is based in Centerville, Texas, near the Trinity River corridor in Leon County.

This is good wild-hog country: wooded cover, river-bottom terrain, water and food sources that give hogs the habitat they need throughout the year.

We’ve been hunting this ground since 1999.

Knowing the property matters.

Our guides understand where hogs tend to move, feed and bed and because we’re hunting from Side-by-Sides rather than sitting in one location, we can adjust throughout the day as conditions change.

One-Day Hog Hunting Near Dallas & Houston

Centerville sits on the I-45 corridor roughly halfway between Dallas and Houston, making 4J accessible from much of the Texas Triangle.

Approximate drive times:

College Station: about 1 hour

Dallas: about 2 hours

Houston: about 2 hours

Fort Worth: about 2 hours 15 minutes

Austin: about 2.5 hours

Because the entire hunt happens in one day, you don’t need to turn it into a three-day vacation.

Drive in, hunt and head home the same day or stay nearby the night before if you prefer.

4J hosts groups ranging from families and friends to bachelor parties, church groups and corporate teams.

Our mobile hunting format means the experience stays active and social rather than sending everyone off to separate blinds for the day.

We can accommodate groups of 20+, with exact arrangements confirmed during booking.

Planning something bigger than a normal weekend hunt?

No TEXAS Hunting License Required

You do not need a Texas hunting license to hunt feral hogs on our private land with landowner consent.

That means the experience is available to Texas residents, visitors from other states and international guests without buying a Texas hog-hunting license.

Feral hogs can also be hunted throughout the year, so there isn’t a short seasonal booking window like there is with many game animals.

Texas Hog Hunting FAQs

Three hogs are guaranteed per shooter. Additional hogs may be available according to your package and current pricing.

No hunting license is required for feral hogs taken on private land with the landowner’s consent. That applies to Texas residents, out-of-state visitors and international guests hunting with us at 4J Ranch.

Feral hogs can be hunted year-round in Texas. 4J runs hunts throughout the year by appointment, so your preferred weather and schedule matter more than a traditional hunting season.

Yes. Many of our guests are first-time hunters or shooters. Every hunt includes firearm safety instruction and guide supervision throughout the experience.

Yes. Bring a safe, legal firearm you’re comfortable shooting.

If you don’t have one or want to shoot something different, gun rentals are available.

Machine-gun options are available through 4J Ranch under staff supervision. 

The ranch is in Centerville, Texas, approximately two hours from both Dallas and Houston and about one hour from College Station.

We operate by appointment seven days a week and generally require two weeks’ notice, subject to availability.
